The price is for a roll of protective strip 100mm wide, 30 meters long

Protective strip for pontoon 100 mm. We offer you an original protective strip for pontoons and kayaks.

Polish product

This strip is designed to strengthen the bottom and sides of a dinghy or kayak and guarantees safety when using equipment on rivers and reservoirs with a rocky bank or bottom, or with a large number of branches in the water. Reinforcement of the bottom of the dinghy increases resistance to damage by up to 300%. The skirting board is made of flexible material and is very easy to stick even for a person who has never done it. How to stick a strip on a pontoon - just type it on YouTube and our video instructions will immediately pop up.

To glue these skirting boards, we recommend using PU312 glue, which can be purchased in our store

The efficiency of the adhesive should be calculated from the calculation: 50ml of glue / 1 linear meter of the strip

Instructions for gluing the PVC protective strip to the bottom of the pontoon:

Gluing a protective strip is a task that even a beginner can handle. All you need to do is read this manual carefully and to be more sure – watch our YouTube video.

Materials and tools:

• protective strip – the length depends on the edgebanding surface

• this set of slats is enough to completely wrap a pontoon up to 3.3m long

• PU-312 glue: – in the amount of 50ml per 1 meter

• brushes – painting, good quality (no bristle loss)

• acetone – for cleaning and degreasing surfaces

• painter's tape – good quality, it should stick well during heating, it should not leave traces of glue on the pontoon.

• pressure roller – for sticking

• spatulas – for spot pressing

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Surface preparation. Clean and degrease the surface of the pontoon with acetone. This will ensure good adhesion of the adhesive.
  2. Designation of gluing points. Use painter's tape to mark the strip lines. Make sure the tape adheres well and leaves no adhesive residue.
  3. Preparation of the protective strip. Determine where the strips will be placed and cut the fabric to the desired length.
  4. Applying glue. For the best effect, it is recommended to apply the adhesive in two layers. First, apply the first thin layer of PU-312 glue to both surfaces (pontoon and the inside of the skirting board) and let it dry for 10-15 minutes. Then apply a second coat of glue and let it dry again for 10-15 minutes. This process allows the acetone to evaporate completely, which increases the thermal resistance of the adhesive. If acetone does not evaporate, the adhesive may lose adhesion at high temperatures (acetone evaporates at 55 °C), which can lead to peeling of components.
  5. Thermal activation of the adhesive. Only perform thermal activation after the adhesive has completely dried on both surfaces. Heat the adhesive to 60-70 °C, heating the surfaces on the adhesive side. You can use an industrial heat gun or a regular hair dryer for this. If you are using a dryer, keep it closer to the surface and heat it a little longer – you will also achieve the desired effect.
  6. Gluing the strip. Place the heated protective strip on the surface of the pontoon. Use a pressure roller to press the bar down thoroughly and remove any air bubbles. For harder-to-reach places, you can use a spatula.
  7. Curing of the adhesive. Allow the adhesive to cure completely for 24 hours.
